MEL CHILSONMel has been practicing at The Ashram Yoga since early 2009. His first class at The Ashram Yoga was Gary Olson’s signature sequenced 75 minute Hot Power class. As a construction worker he was seeking a balance to his life, and coming to The Ashram Yoga proved the way to harmony that kept him coming back for the challenge, over and over again. In early 2010, Mel dove head first into a 7 day a week practice that brought him the clarity to allow the negative things in his life to fall away. He attended classes taught by Ashram instructors that taught him to follow his intuitive nudge from within, and started seeking a path toward becoming a yoga instructor. In the spring of 2011, Mel enrolled in Yoga Works 200 hour intensive Training Program. The 200-Hour program deepened and his personal practice as he embarked on a transformational journey toward becoming a yoga teacher. He studied functional anatomy, as well as the physiology of inversions, breathing and the nervous system. Moving beyond the physical, he learned yoga philosophy, rooted in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Finally, he began to learn the fundamentals of meditation, Pranayama, Ayurveda and the chakra system.Mel completed his training certification in July of 2011. Mel plans on remaining close to the yoga community at The Ashram Yoga for many years to come, and looks forward to building healthy, long lasting relationships with everyone he encounters on his yoga journey. |
