DANA MONSON

Dana was born and raised here in Kirkland where from a very young age she grew up following in her Dad’s footsteps and playing volleyball. She has always loved working hard and staying active and when she found Bikram yoga in 2005 after graduating from Lake Washington High School, she fell in love. The intense 90-minute class was just the challenging workout she had been looking for. She continued her practice when she was in school in Santa Barbara, CA, and was disappointed when she transferred to WSU that there was no Bikram yoga to be found. She found herself drawn to the yoga and Pilates classes offered at the school gym but still practiced Bikram yoga everyday that she was back home for breaks. Dana introduced her mom and sister to yoga as well, and they all began practicing at The Ashram soon after it opened. Dana was a student of Gary’s for almost four years before she decided to attend Bikram’s Teacher Training in San Diego in the fall of 2010.

The experience at training only proved to her how powerful Bikram yoga is and how it really can change people’s lives for the better. She is now sharing her passion of Bikram yoga through teaching and hopes to continue doing so for a long time to come. Her mom, Paula, and sister, Ashley continue to practice at the Ashram and are regulars in Dana’s classes. Dana is a Bikram certified yoga teacher and holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Washington State University (GO COUGS!).
